National Ag Day – March 20, 2018
March 20, 2018, is National Ag day (www.agday.org) Strong’s Insurance opened its doors in 1921. Strong’s first customers were farmers. A large part of our customer base is still the agriculture community. We insure farms, crops, and cattle. Strong’s is thankful to the farmer and ranchers in our communities and wanted to take time today to recognize what they mean to us and what they mean to you.
Agriculture provides almost everything we eat, use and wear daily. National Ag Day is a day to recognize the impact agriculture has on our lives whether we live in an urban or rural area. Today’s American farmer feeds about 155 people worldwide. In 1960, that number was 25.8. Agriculture not only provides us food but it also provides us jobs. A report released by the Department of Agriculture and Purdue University in May 2015 estimates that nearly 60,000 jobs in the agriculture, food, renewable resources, and environment fields become available every year, yet only 35,000 graduates with agriculture-related degrees are available to fill them.
The agriculture economy is influencing us every day whether you are a consumer or a producer. We encourage our communities to appreciate the affordable food the American Farmer is providing us and to also be aware of the economic impact agriculture has on our communities.
Strong’s Insurance says thank you to the American Farmer and Rancher!
